bpost is piloting the innovative SwipBox Infinity parcel lockers in the city
of Mechelen, in Belgium. The parcel lockers were chosen because they provide a
convenient and sustainable first and last mile solution.
This pilot will gather user experiences about the bluetooth enabled SwipBox
parcel lockers, define what's the ideal distance (for an end user) from a parcel
locker and assess how lean parcel lockers complement bpost's manned PUDO
network and contribute to less congested cities.
bpost’s green strategy
Catherine De Baets, from bpost comments:
”We are very happy to be trialing the
SwipBox Infinity concept, as it's an obvious supplement to our green logistics
strategy, which aims to offer sustainable and convenient last and first mile
solutions. Thus we are looking forward to the collaboration and a greener last mile
future.”
SwipBox continues its expansion
Danish SwipBox is the developer behind the app-operated parcel lockers that run
on batteries. The lockers are very easy to install as there is no need for an external
electricity source or an internet connection.
Jens Rom, CEO of SwipBox, says:
“This partnership with bpost shows the strong
demand for the SwipBox Infinity solution in the market. We have already rolled out
this solution across Scandinavia, and we can now proudly announce the
cooperaration with bpost. We are confident that the SwipBox Infinity solution will
provide greater convenience for shoppers in Belgium and deliver a new, greener
way to pick up and send parcels. “
bpost owns and operates the parcel network in Belgium.
